Just checked my power usage with my 2 PCs folding. First, my loft where they are is 72deg while the rest of the house is 66. This is the big impact:
Everyone is in bed, I generally see a draw of .2-.3kw now. Wow. Good thing for the solar, there is a storm coming so I’m not using the batteries, but I’ve got about a 100kwh credit with the electric company for the last week.
I’ve never really ran mine and my son’s gaming systems wide open simultaneously before. I expected some heat and power draw, but not this much. That’s like running the clothes dryer.
Full of the sound of the Gran Fury, signifying nothing.

Oof - that's a lot of power. I don't have access to that kind of data so I'm not sure how much I'm using, but I'm sure it's plenty...

I got solar panels through Tesla too and I’m constantly monitoring how much energy my house is using. Solar panels were the best purchase I’ve made in years, I wish I had bought them sooner. Thanks for posting this. It’s eye opening to see how much power a gaming PC can draw. The biggest draw in my house seems to be my toaster over.

We were constantly looking at it when we first got them. We also have 2 Powerwalls, most of the time we are completely off grid. I’ve got it saving the batteries right now, though, there is a storm on the way.
For us, I see the biggest increases when my wife makes tea (1.8kw for the kettle), dry clothes (2.6kw), run the AC (2.3kw), charge my RC Helicopter packs (3kw), and charge my wife’s Chevy Volt (4.8kw).
I’m glad we got them, we went way oversized on our system and had to sign a waiver acknowledging that they told us to buy less. Apparently they were sued for overselling at some point. They wanted us to have a 4.5kw system, we have a 7.2kw, plus the 2 P owerw alls. At that point, the rebate was only for first install, so in the long run it would save money, and we knew we were going to buy electric cars. I’m glad we did, for the most part I only have an electric bill in January and February, and if I’m careful the house will go 2 days on the batteries with 0 solar.
